Today is Poem in Your Pocket day at our school and it is really such an excellent way to say goodbye to poetry month. Of course, I had a poem in my pocket, too. A Haiku for you.
Most of my students chose to write their own poems to keep in their pockets and a couple copied poems from their favorite authors. It was so fantastic to see them on the playground sharing their poetry with one another and I was humbled to learn that I was the subject of a lot of their poetry.
